Article 86 in the EU directive 2001/83/EC lists the prohibition of advertising and promotion of prescription-only medicines to the general public. These legal provisions are included in the country codes of conduct and guidelines for the promotion of medicines and we therefore inform you that French laws, codes and regulations will be in full force and effect during the 27th EADV Congress in Paris.

Dispositions Deontologiques Professionnelle – Applicables aux Entreprises du Médicament Adhérentes du Leem

The French Public Health Code (Code de la Santé Publique)

European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA)

The European Accreditation Council for CME (EACCME)

International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA)

These codes prohibit the advertising of prescription-only medicines to the general public, therefore only Healthcare Professionals may be exposed to advertising for prescription-only products in Paris.

The French Drug Safety Compliance Committee (CODEEM) defines “Healthcare Professionals” as:

Any member of the medical, dental, pharmacy or nursing professions or any other person who in the course of his or her professional activities may prescribe, recommend, purchase, supply or administer a pharmaceutical product.

As a multidisciplinary audience will be attending the Paris Congress, the EADV will assign different badges to Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and Non-Healthcare Professionals (NON-HCPs) to ensure compliance with the above regulations.

During the registration process, you will be asked to indicate whether you are a “Healthcare Professional” or not. Depending on the status you have indicated on your registration form, you will receive either a “Healthcare Professional (HCP)” or “Non-Healthcare Professional (NON-HCPs)” badge on your arrival to the venue.

Access to any industry sessions where data or research of prescription medicines is presented will be limited exclusively to Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) only.

About Paris

Paris is the capital and most populous city of France. Since the 17th century, Paris is one of Europe’s major centres of finance, commerce, fashion, science, and the arts.

Paris has many important cultural institutions: the Louvre museum is the most visited in the world; its Musée d’Orsay is noted for its collection of French Impressionist art, and its Pompidou-center Musée National d’Art Moderne has the largest collection of modern and contemporary art in Europe.

In 2017, the European Commission ranked it as the most “Culturally Vibrant City” in the EU.

The central area of the city along the Seine River is classified as a UNESCO Heritage Site and includes many notable monuments, including Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower.

Access to the session rooms

Seating is regulated on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend you go to the session room well in advance of the session. Due to safety regulations, the organisers will close the access to the session if all seats are occupied. Delegates are not permitted to stand in the aisles of the session rooms.

IMPORTANT: Children under the age of 18 are not authorised inside the Congress centre (exhibition hall, sessions, etc.)

Certificate of Attendance

A Certificate of Attendance will be available for all registered attendees with a printed out badge. The Certificate of Attendance can be downloaded online via the EADV website by simply entering the e-mail and password used during the registration process or your EADV credentials (if you are an EADV member).

CME accreditation

Each participant is entitled to a number of European CME credits, according to his/her actual participation to each scientific session. CME-CPD certificates may be downloaded after the event directly from the EADV website for processing with the national authority in your country of practice. No CME credits will be granted by the EADV for sessions organised by industry or by Subspecialty Societies.

All presentations during the Congress will be conducted in English, the official language of the EADV. There will be no translation provided.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is prohibited inside the Congress centre and the exhibition areas.

Paris is a major rail, highway, and air-transport hub served by two international airports: Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly.

The Paris Métro subway network has grown to become the city’s most widely used local transport system with 16 lines. Superimposed on this is a ‘regional express network’, the RER, that connects Paris to more distant parts of the urban area.

Paris has 6 major railways stations (Gare du Nord, Gare de l’Est, Gare de Lyon, Gare d’Austerlitz, Gare Montparnasse, Gare Saint-Lazare)

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones must be switched off at all times during all sessions.

Congress Policy

As applied to previous EADV congresses, all EADV members will receive special registration rates, provided their membership fees have been paid. The 27th EADV Congress will offer fellowships with reduced registration fees and special scholarships for dermatologists facing financial difficulties.
